One of the most powerful spices of all times! Turmeric is a root that has been used for centuries for medicinal properties as a powerful antioxidant and for its ability to reduce inflammation in the body. Curcumin (turmeric) may stop the action of the liver enzyme that activates environmental toxins into carcinogenic forms. Turmeric also increases the production of enzymes that digest fats and sugars and may help cholesterol from forming gallstones. When I attended Sanoviv Medical Institute's Detox Program for healthy eating this drink was a staple every afternoon. Here's the recipe!
2 cups coconut milk
1 tsp organic turmeric powder
1/2 tsp organic cinnamon
1 tsp raw honey
pinch of black pepper to increase absorption
1/8 tsp freshly grated organic ginger root
pinch of organic cayenne
Blend all ingredients in a blender, heat on stove until warm and enjoy before bed to help boost the immune system while you sleep.
